(More customer reviews)First, the player is extremely small and lightweight; however you *really* don't want to drop it on the ground or use while, say, engaging in any sort of "extreme" sport. The lid is a fraction wobbly (It doesn't feellike it will fall off, but I'd expect a more precise fit from Sony) butcloses with a very satisfying "click" sound. It has a nice satinymetallic silver finish, that unfortunately is subseptable to scratching.Scratches can be avoided by keeping the player in the nice charcoal-coloredcarrying case it comes with. This case has an adjustable hand strap, andopenings for the display, the power input and headphone jacks. While in thecase it's impossible to change CDs and very difficult to adjust the volumeor engage/disengage the Hold feature. The headphone jack has an extra portin order to accomodate (Sony) headphones with an inline remote, that oddlyare not availible with this model (I triedcalling Sony to no avail.Hopefully these headphones will be availible in the future). Theaccompanying headphones are of standard quality and don't handle bass athigh volumes well (they sound great at middle volumes); you'll want to geta new pair ASAP (the matching Street Style ones, for example). The displayglows turquoise when the player is plugged in with the car or standardadapter. This feature can't be turned on or off and does not operate withbatteries. The G-Protection is excellent and works extremely well (assumingthe CD playing is clean and not too scratched); keep in mind, however, thatif you jostle the player continuously, while it won't skip it will drainyour batteries faster. The bass boost is great and actually enhances allfrequencies, not just the low ones. The only real complaint I have aboutthe player is the placement of the controls; while asthetically pleasingthey are not in the most ergonomic places. Ideally you should be able to,say, hold it in your right hand and operate it with your right thumb.Instead you have to hold it in one hand and operate it with the other. Thismay not seem like a big deal, but if your other hand is carrying shoppingbags, or whatever, this becomes annoying. Also, if you are looking to usethe player as your car's CD player often, note that the volume controls andOpen switch might be hard to use while driving. Other than that it's agreat player and I highly recommend it.
